Wow, I just finished listening to Pet Sounds from start to finish for the first time in probably five years and I feel like I've been hit with a bolt of lightening.The melodies and harmonies that Brian Wilson creates on this are literally from another world--I mean better than the McCartney and Lennon if you ask me.
The musical arrangments are incredibly subtle and unique--all sorts of weird knick knacks that just again are created from another planet.
And that's not even mentioning the heart-rendering, yearning, pleading lyrics that he sings. Extraordinarily poignant, touching....deep, sad, joyous...a young man becoming an adult. Whew. Amazing.
Do y0urself a favor. Throw it on the turntable. Send yourself into outer space.
